first part of our stay in Beautiful Val d’Anniviers ❤️

Just by driving the road from Sierre 533m to Vissoie 1202m we already knew that we were going to land in a magnificent place. From Vissoie we continued our road to Chandolin 1936m, where we checked in for 3 nights at the @chandolinboutiquehotel 📷See pictures 9+10 (if you are looking for comfort and calm this is the ideal place). after settling in and taking a short tour of the old village, we headed back direction Grimentz 1572m 📷see pictures 1-2-3-4 (30min by car from Chandolin), one of the most beautiful and authentic village in Switzerland, This charming village has preserved its typical architecture of the Val d'Anniviers 🫶. There we had a reservation for the visit and the history of the bourgeoisie followed by a tasting of “Gletscher wine“ (one dating from 1969, the other from 1888 😅) 📷see pictures 5-6-7, followed by a delicious wood-fired raclette in the restaurant Hôtel Moiry 📷see picture 8.

P.S.: I would recommend traveling by car, so you can get from place to place more easily. But don't worry if you don't drive, or travel from far ✈️ and don't want to rent a car. you can easily travel by train to Sierre (about 2h by train from Geneva, about 2:30h from Basel and Zürich). in Sierre you can take a bus to Vissoie (there are 11 buses a day, the 1st start at 6:40 a.m., the last at 7:40 p.m. and Friday and Saturday evening there is a bus which also runs at 8:45 p.m.), the trip takes about 35min. And in Vissoie you have about 10 buses a day that take you to Grimentz, or to Ayer, Zinal, St-Luc, Chandolin 😊👌

Second part from our stay in Beautiful Val d’Anniviers ❤️

After a restful night and a delicious breakfast at Chandolin Boutique Hotel, we took the road towards the Moiry glacier 2349m where there is a large car park (at the Moiry dam, there is also a large car park and a restaurant).

from there we took the path towards Cabane de Moiry 2825m, the path is practically only uphill for 1:30, but it is easy.

At first the path rises gently in the pastures surrounded by Herens cows (the Queen of the cows 😆🐮❤️) accompanied by the sound of there bells, and then you continue the rocky path in zig zag up to the hut. Throughout this journey you will have a breathtaking view (it was difficult to choose only 10 photos for this post 🤣), arrived at the Cabane de Moiry you can enjoy a good cold drink on their beautiful terrace with the view of the Moiry glacier and the valley.

for those who are not traveling by car, there is also the possibility of going to the dam and/or to the edge of the glacier, with the bus which runs there 5 times a day from Grimentz, place de Mélèze, the 5th bus from Grimentz , télécabine (it runs from June 25 to August 28 at the Glacier, and until October 9 at the Barrage).

👀📷 can you spot cuddle bear on picture 7 !?! 😆

Third part of our beautiful stay in Val d’Anniviers ❤️

On the way back from this magnificent little hike to the “cabane de Moiry“, we made a quick stop in Grimentz to eat a delicious crepe (foodie that we are 😅🙈), and then went to St-Luc where we had booked for the activity “making rye bread” in the traditional way. This Valais tradition allowed the production of this bread, which can be kept for several months. You will participated at the shaping of the bread and the cooking over a wood fire, and at the end you leave with your own bread 😁. We loved the passionate guide who made us have a very good informative time with humor and good mood (P.S. : she also translates into English with an adorable French accent).

This activity is proposed every Tuesday in St-Luc and every Thursday in Grimentz from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (we were very lucky with the weather. But in case of bad weather, you will always have something to do in Val d'Anniviers 😉)

And we ended this beautiful day with a delicious dinner at the Hotel Le Beausite ❤️. Cuddle bear loved “The vegetable garden on its cocoa soil“. Being both “Gourmand and Gourmet“ (greedy/foodie 😅), we love to taste new dishes. and the val d'anniviers spoiled us at the level of the taste palate 🍽🍷😋

4th part from our stay in beautiful Val d’Anniviers ❤️

On our third day in this paradise, we took in Chandolin 1936m the chairlift to the Tsapé 2470m.

From there we took the trail who arounds the Tsapé by the lakes, first we walked in the direction of the ”Lac noir”, then we walked down towards the Illsee, then walk up towards the ”Pas de l'Illsee” 2545m passing next to the ”Wäschtsee”. From the ”Pas de lllsee” you can return to the Tsapé station, this walk makes about 3.9km, and will take you about 01:45.

But we decided to walk back down to Chandolin, stopping for lunch at the charming @lacabaneillhorn 2145m ❤️🐓where I tasted a delicious peasant salad “full of Love” 😉 my sweet cuddle bear of course had a dessert, he said I quote “it's the best apricot pie I have eaten" 😁

P.S. : 👉 with the PASS ANNIVIERS LIBERTÉ, which you will receive when you check in at the hotel, and which is valid until the date of your departure, you have 50% discount on the chair lifts / gondola, and also you will have free access or reductions to various leisure activities and cultural visits.

5th part from our stay in Beautiful Val d’Anniviers ❤️

As we returned to Chandolin after our walk at Le Tsapé, we first Walk through the old village, and then went back to the Chandolin Boutique Hôtel, where We took advantage of the SPA and had a relaxing time 😊 followed by an aperitif on their beautiful terrace and a delicious dinner 😋

This magnificent hotel located at an altitude of 2000m, in a chic chalet style and cocooning atmosphere, with a breathtaking view of the magnificent Val d'Anniviers, invites you to escape from your daily routine and to relax 😊

6th and last part of our stay in beautiful Val d’Anniviers ❤️

As we loved it so much at Val d’Anniviers we decided to extend a night in Zinal 1675m where we anyway had planned to do our last walk, to Lac Arpitettaz 2234m, the round-Trip takes about 3,5 hours.

In Zinal there are more hotels and restaurants, even a camping, than in Chandolin, so there is for everyone something in this valley 😁 if you prefer tranquility (like me) I would recommend Chandolin, if you prefer people around you and a bit festive in the evening, then I would recommend Zinal 😉.

According to a comment, Chandolin is a boring place. But everyone has their own way of defining boredom. As far as I'm concerned, it's not at all boring, because if I go to this kind of place, it's precisely to seek calm, rest, not to be surrounded by extreme crowds. And To get away from this everyday life that is often too noisy and stressful.

And I do hope that in the future there will still be plenty of places like Chandolin where they don't build more huge infrastructures to attract mass tourism 🤞

🌎🌍🌏👉 What‘s the reasons you will choose to spend a stay in the mountains ? (for sports activities ? to rest ? to disconnect from everyday life ? for the landscape ? because others have been there ? Just for showing that you were there ? …)
