Sunday September 19 we left very early direction South. We decided to take the longest route so as not to have to cross 2 borders, we thought that there might be traffic jams due to the ”so-called covid test control” ... but nobody controls neither on the way there, nor on the way back 🙄. In short, we arrived much earlier than expected in Ortisei (very touristic little town) in Val Gardena. On arrival we should have start at “Cristauta car park“ (in Santa Cristina) for a short walk towards Seurasas to admire the sunset on the Dolomites, but unfortunately the weather was bad. At least we still had a few minutes of sunrays 😅🙏 which have let appear majestic mountains. And to console us a little that we couldn’t watch the sunset we took advantage of the SPA followed by a good dinner at Hotel Alpenheim.

the weather unfortunately cannot be predicted when we plan a trip 🤷🏻‍♀️ but hey, that will give us a reason to come back to South Tyrol. well, we have plenty of reasons to go back there 😆

Monday 20 September :

We checked out early. We did not have breakfast, we had lunch packets instead, but apparently there was a misunderstanding that the packets would have been for lunch. And the lunch packets weren't a hit either ! We had 2 small rolls with a piece of peasant ham, without butter and side dishes, and 2 apples... but well, better than nothing 😆. Before we started I registered in a pharmacy (because I thought I needed maybe this test to check in and eat in the restaurants), and we drunk a coffee ! (without coffee I can't start the day 😆)

Let's start with the hike now 😁 around 10:00 we took a funicular in Ortisei (1230m alt.) to Raschötz (2095m alt.), from there we walked on a panorama path to Brogleshütte (2045m alt.), And then down to Furnes where we took the gondola to Seceda (2519m alt.), up there the view is amazing 😍 we did a circular walk of about 2 hours (there were a lot of people 😅 it also seems to be a very famous place). We were then back in time to Ortisei to continue to our next stay in Val di Funes (about 40min drive) to check in at Peterwieshof (we loved the stay there !) and to had a delicious dinner in Hotel Fines in Santa Magdalena.

On the one hand it has advantages to plan, because then you no longer have to search for places, hiking trails, restaurants, ... on the other hand it has disadvantages, because then you always have to keep track of the time !

On September 20th at evening we drove then to San Pietro (Val di Funes) and checked into the “Peterwieshof“ for 2 nights.

who has ever spent a vacation on the farm ? we love such places ! In the middle of the green, surrounded by beautiful nature and mountains, not overcrowded with people, and this calm. The perfect place to relax ! The hostess is so lovely, and you get there a generous breakfast with farm products, such as eggs from the Hoff, homemade jam, ... I also loved all the pictures in the farm (anyway I love places who are made of stories) especially one in the breakfast room (See picture 3 : It's the Owner of the farm and her husband when she was 18, at Geisler Alm)

1 hour later we drove one village further, to Santa Magdalena, where we had a table reserved for dinner at @hotelfines 😊👌

Immediately when you go inside you feel comfortable and welcome. The staff is so friendly, and the food was very very delicious. this would be also an Hotel we would choose to stay (next time for sure we will book there).

Tuesday 21 septempter ! We start the day with a huge and delicious breakfast at ”Peterwieshof” (San Pietro). Then we drove to the ranui parking / Zanser Alm 1680m alt. (8 euro for the place, with the guest card it's 2 euro). The street is very tight at some places, you can also take the bus, but on the way we saw many hikers at the bus stop, I don't think so that they all had space in the bus 😅. we started then to walk around 10:00 to the Schlüterhütte (2306m alt.).

Arrived up there you can do the circular hike around the Peitlerkofel (duration 5 to 5.5 hours), then climb (at the Peitlerscharte 2357m alt.) to the Peitlerkopel 2780m alt. (and with an easy via ferrata up to the summit cross 2874m. alt).

We would never have managed that, since we had a reservation at 6:30 p.m. (that fortunately we did not miss😋). To do this long hike, it would either be better to spend the night in the Schlüterhütte or start walking very early, and above all have a Good physical condition and being in shape 😅

so we walked to the Peitlerscharte (where the way Start up to Peitlerkopel. It takes about 45 minutes from the hut to Peitlerscharte) there were so many people, and even more came up through the gap 😅.

our ways parted here for about 3 hours. Cudlle bear was going up on the Peiterkofel (but he didn't manage the via ferrata anymore 🤣 he was too exhausted), and I walked down on the way we should have actually take. I couldn't go with him because : steep path + a lot of people in front and behind me = panic attack guaranteed 🤷🏻‍♀️. We made then an appoitment at the Hut around 3:00 - 3:30 to finally have lunch 😆. and then we walked back but on an other way ! we just came in time at Peterwieshof to take a shower, and then we had dinner to one of the best restaurant ever

my crush of this trip ! in french we would say ”mon coup de coeur” 👉 the @pitzock ❤️. The Most of the people would come back for these majestic mountains... I would even come back for just eating again in the Pitzock ! this restaurant located in San Pietro, is a must if you stay or pass by val di Funes. I love there ”slow food” concept (it aim to promote local cultures and food traditions). For each dishes you will get an explanation and origin about the products they use. They transmit you their love and passion for their Terroir, Region, Country. Not only are the meals of excellence, but also the owners and employees 👌

Fortunately there are still people who continue to support or to revive the good local products and food traditions, like Oskar Messner and his wife Ingrid 🙏❤️

22 september : For the last day we took a Walk to an other very popular place : Geisler Alm 🏔💕

if you want to take the shorter way to walk up (about 1:15) then you have to park at Zanser Alm (where we had parked the day before as we walked to the Schlütterhütte). or you can park near by the church of Santa Magdalena (other famous spot) like we did (to not have to drive again through the tight street), then the walk to Geisleralm takes about 2 hours.

We had a delicious lunch at @geisleralm 👌😋 accompanied by an amazing view 😁🏔
